5 Months Old

  • Has 2 teeth: bottom left is in quite a bit and the bottom right has barely popped through.  Raylie handles teething pretty well. She is a little more clingy and fussy but not too bad.  Mostly she just wants to be held and won't entertain herself as much.
  • Raylie is 3 1/2 inches shorter than Ryder at this age.  She still fits in some of her 0-3 months clothes!
  • Gets cranky in the afternoon/evening and wants to eat real food. So far she really likes applesauce.  She also likes to drink water out of her sippy cup.
  • Reaches out to touch, or grab, things that are in front of her.
  • Does not love to roll over.  She has done it once, and now she only rolls to her side and back again.  She could easily go to her stomach but she chooses to go back onto her back.
  • Only likes her front pack if she is ready to sleep or is facing out in the Baby Bjorne.  If she is awake she wants to be held facing out so she can wiggle.
  • Similarly, she only really likes to be in her stroller if she is ready to sleep.  Even with it sitting up more she cries if she is awake.
  • Enjoys listening to books that I read to Ryder.
  • Still thinks that Ryder is the most hilarious person on the planet.  She giggles and smiles at him more than anybody.
  • Likes to sit in her jumper and play with the toys.
  • Poops every 3 days or so.  (It still seems weird to me that it's not every day even though she has been like this since she was a month old.)
  • Sleeps in bed with us.  She falls asleep nursing and holding on to her stuffed Tiger, "Smelly." She wakes up about 2-4 times a night.  However, she just nurses and falls right back to sleep so it's not a big deal.  Most days I feel very refreshed and not tired.  It's awesome!
  • Takes a couple short naps during the day and one longer nap.  It sort of depends on if we are home or if we are out and about.
  • Everywhere we go she gets a lot of compliments on her eyes.  They are big and beautiful and people notice them!
  • In the car, if Raylie is crying Ryder will hold her hand to try and help her feel better.  Also, anytime that Ryder falls asleep in the car he is always holding her hand.  It is so sweet!
